Hi
I'm almost embarrassed to ask this daft question. I have read all the info about setting up the spreadsheets and can see at the top of the sheet that it tells you what the colours mean eg black is BG_>27.6 (UK - pet monitor)
But is there a guide somewhere that tells what colours we should hoping for at what hours? I know the vet said as a rough guide as much of the curve below 15 as possible but not below 4. But there are so many colour groups on here - I am sure there must be a guide somewhere as to what constitutes "good" at what time but can't locate it.
Thanks

No clue here but maybe @Bandit's Mom can help you with this?

I don’t think it’s a daft question. You basically want to know the range they should be in. I’m sorry I don’t use a pet meter but with my human meter, the ideal rage would be 60-120. Even up to 150 wound still be optimal in my book. Anything up to 200’s is okay but not great.

Hi Gill,

For readings taken with an Alphatrak:

Normal Feline BG Reference Range: 3.9 - 8.3mmol/L (70-150mg/dL)

(Note: The above reference range was given to me by my vet for use with my Alphatrak. FDMB uses 3.8mmol/L | 68mg/dL as the lower bound of the normal range.)

Feline Renal Threshold: 14-16mmol/L | c. 250-290mg/dL (Actual threshold point varies from cat to cat but typically falls within this range.)

(Source: Merck Veterinary Manual)

A cat is considered regulated if its blood glucose level stays below the renal threshold the majority of the time while not becoming hypoglycaemic.

A cat is considered tightly regulated if it runs most of the time in the normal reference range.
