Curve question

Do you still feed normally when doing a curve? And a little treat after each 2 hour test? I fed as normal and have given a little treat (freeze dried chicken) each test. But now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have. We've tested 5 times so far, all pink with one yellow. Since we've been on the same dosage for a week, I'm thinking of upping his dose by .25 to 1.75. I was actually going to do that this morning, and then decided to do a curve with the same dose for at least the AM shot.

It's also been really hot and humid here the past several days. Today is a bit cooler, but now we're having thunderstorms (just started 2 minutes ago). T-storms don't usually bother Zeus, but he just came runnin after a big boom... wonder what that will do to his next test?

Any advice with the curve and dosing?

Thanks,
Kathie and Zeus

You do exactly what you would normally do, every day.
Your curve is telling you how your cat is doing on the insulin you are giving and when you feed what you normally feed.
You want to test every 2 hrs and see how the numbers are going through an entire cycle... if you have the time, you could do a couple curves over the weekend. Those curves will let you know how the current dose is doing. and what you need to change, if anything.

Also, the freeze dried chicken treats, if they are just chicken with nothing added, would be very low carb treats, so they shouldn't boost the BG. If he is stressed by the occasional boom of thunder, that BG elevated stress shouldn't stick around for long. But basically, you just do everything like normal, like Gayle said, and collect the data. Anything you feel you need to mention (thunder, treats, etc.), just put it in the "comments" column on the SS so that the numbers make sense to anyone looking (or for you to refer to later on). Great job on the curve!

Thanks for your replies. The thunderstorms didn't last for too long, and actually Zeus stayed in the pink before and afterwards - only one yellow. I don't think I'll get in an overnight curve too - Zeus is sick of being poked and is hiding right now. I am going to try for one more test before bed though. Looks like I need to increase his dose in the morning. I"m going to try to get a few odd hour tests in tomorrow as well.
