Crappy vet/insulin update

Well, the vet that I had suspected was giving me old insulin pretty much incriminated themselves. I had presented my concern to them multiple times regarding Jack's numbers not going down, the expiration dates of the insulin, and their lack of communication. They. Never. Called. Me. Back. Can you believe it? The last person I spoke with was the girl that left me the message regarding the "new NYS law regarding holding insulin". I pretty much blasted her on the phone, and full-out accused them of giving old insulin. She said she'd have the managing vet call me that day.
Nope. Nada. Nothing.
So I filed a complaint with the BBB, left a scathing Google review, and informed the NYS Pharmacy and Veterinary boards of their practice.
And now we wait.
On another note, my second-op vet is quite awesome. She hooked me up with a compounding pharmacy called Wedgewood, and they are sending me a brand-spanking new vial of PZI today or tomorrow for CHEAPER than what the old, shady vet charged!
I still can't believe that no one has contacted me from the old vet regarding my complaints. Oh well. I am praying that this new insulin will work and my boy will feel better.
I can't wait to get started!

Glad you got a better vet. Hope Karma bites the old one.

I'd suggest your trying a sliding scale - different dose for say, a 400 than a 280. If you are interested, I can try to figure one out for you.

Thanks, Sue! I have a sliding scale already that Rob did, but that was figured out using the old, bad insulin. I think I am going to start fresh at 1u. when the new stuff comes, then see how he reacts to that after a few cycles. If I don't see any improvement, I will try the sliding scale. I am still paranoid of shooting right past his optimum dose, you know? I would really love for him to respond well to the new stuff and have great results and hopefully go otj. I'm putting that out to the universe! :)

Maybe start with the new insulin and then relook at the scale? (they aren't static - they work best if you adjust them as the numbers change.). He does seem to bounce a bit - hope that flattens out.
