I cannot believe it! I was in a big hurry at the store earlier (husband has BAD flu and was rushing home with chicken broth) and grabbed a can of Friskies that I thought was low carb. Gobbles "gobbled" it down (1/2 can)--then I took a second look at the label--Friskies Chicken and Tuna Dinner in Gravy Prime Filets--I am looking for that one on the food list...does anyone know just how high the carb count is...and what to do now??? He gets his insulin shot in 2 hours...

I would just do nothing special for this one-time high-carb food.
Thank you Larry...I'm curious to see what his BG will be pre-shot in a few hours... I feel HORRIBLE about this...I was doing so good before this disaster....everything I have been feeding him was 6 or less carbs, along with occasional raw steak (that isn't high in carbs, is it?)

It's 18% carbs according to Dr. Lia's chart http://www.catinfo.org/docs/Food Chart Public 9-22-12.pdf

Don't feel bad. Mistakes happen. Yes, bgs will likely be high at insulin time but they will come down. Just give the usual amount of insulin. Maybe you can move the high carb gravy foods to another location in your kitchen so you don't accidentally grab the wrong can in the future.

Plain raw meat of any kind is low carb

Separating the good stuff from the bad stuff is a good idea. You want to have a can or three of HC with gravy around the house in case you ever need them though. It will be interesting to see what sort of number you get, but this is not a huge deal. The higher BGs will go away pretty quick, and tomorrow things will get back to normal.
Beating yourself up is not allowed here. ;-)

Some of the best advise I ever got here was.

Get a Sharpie and write the carb % on the lid of each can of food, it will take the guesswork out of an emergency with low numbers and everyday feeding.

Thank you all for your replies--you are all greatly appreciated! I will get my sharpie out and start marking! Surprisingly, his PMPS was 232 @
