Sam is doing so great! The countdown is 14 days, correct?

He is getting healthier by the day, and is now getting into all kinds of trouble. His energy is so fun right now! Today I came home to find that he had knocked every last thing off of the kitchen counter (thankfully nothing was broken), and had somehow dragged his little bed out from under my bed and half-way down the hall. These are exactly the kinds of things he would do before he got sick. It's so nice to see his old personality coming back!

I love hearing what Sam is doing now...he has so much personality. Please keep us posted with all of his funny stories.

Well, speaking of antics...and rising BG levels...Sam has never been one to eat human food. Except for two things: beer and potato chips. Which seems about right for a cat that was living the wild life all on his own for so long (before adoption). Well, I almost never have potato chips, so that one isn't really a problem. But I did pour myself a beer, and then walk out of the room for a second. Sure enough, I came back to find his fuzzy little head shoved down into my glass, slurping it up as fast as he could. ARRRRGGGG!!!! He didn't get much since I had come running as soon as I heard him land on the counter, but still - beer is a carb! I'm glad he's not one of those cats that moves about quietly! At PMPS he was only 86, so it doesn't look like too much damage was done (thankfully). Let's hope those green numbers don't get bumped by his little beer bender!

Well, it appears that his keg party didn't do too much damage. He was 84 this morning.

I also noticed that he's put some weight back on. He's up to 11 pounds. He was 13.5 pounds when the vet first noted an elevated BG, and got down to 10.2 pounds. He still looks pretty skinny - there is a good dip in at the waist when I'm looking down at him - but it's something I think I should probably keep an eye on since he isn't all that big of a cat. It's hard to imagine he's overeating with the food he's on now, so I'm hoping this is just a little natural correction to a healthy weight for him. Or maybe he's getting a beer belly ;-)

Djamila, I really could not stop giggling last night after I read your post! (Just kept imagining your face when you caught him with his head in your beer glass ...) Thanks so much for sharing this crazy little incident. Btw, Bat-Bat has always had a thing for potato chips, too! (Why couldn't it be a penchant for something like celery sticks instead?) So she still follows my other half around when she sees him holding the bag, even though her "Oh, please ..." eyes looking up at him get her nary a morsel now!

I'm so happy that Sam's doing well!!! And is good that you're keeping an eye on his weight (probably want to weigh him just once a week).
And lock up that beer!:D (What a sneaky little kitty you have ...) :bighug:

TOO FUNNY!! I swear they totally KNOW what has the higher CARBS in it.
Tucker picks it out immediately.
Sam is such a sweet little character! This Sugar Cat Club is sure full of entertaining personalities!!
