You can use the vial past expiration date; just make sure you keep it refrigerated. You also might want to look into getting a prescription for the pens instead as this will save you money long-term (since you can use up the pens to the last drop whereas you usually lose about half of the vial).

I work in a hospital and one of the benefits I have is I get my kitty meds at cost plus a dollar. In July I paid $126 for a vial. I know I'm lucky. I usually use my vial for 4 to 5 months.
