I found a human study today that worked to chart the similarities and correlation between blood ketone levels and urine ketone levels. While it is a lot of scientific jargon, i was able to pull a few things from it. There is a similarity in values when graphed, as long as there is no kidney issues that may complicate the urine values.

Here are the conclusions from the human study:

Studies on 20 diabetics in mild and severe
ketosis have shown:
1. The low urinary output of ketone bodies
(less than 100 mgm. per hour) with blood ketone
levels under 20 mgm. per cent. This is probably
due largely to the excretion of acetone which
appears to be a non-threshold substance.
2. A relationship between blood ketone levels
and urinary output:
a. Increased urinary output per hour with
rising blood ketone levels.
b. A renal threshold for beta-hydroxybutyric
acid over 20 mgm. per cent.
3. Impaired urinary excretion with renal failure.

This person also evaluates the findings of other scientists that cite no correlation between blood and urine values.

Here is a link to the 7 page article about the study (which includes graphs and number data)

I don't know how to translate the blood values they give into mmol, but my guess is once the blood value gets closer to more elevated than 'trace', then the values will probably start to mimic the urine values found on the ketostixs. Food for thought!
