So after the low AMPS and no shot this morning I tested Cooter first thing when I got home expecting a nasty number. 144! It is now just shy of 23 hours since his last injection, and he ate a 3oz can of 5% FF 4 hours ago, not that it's close enough to affect his BG really... any ideas on where to go tonight? :D:D
 
I think this little guy wants off the juice (anti jinx). Well, stall and see, but I would be nervous shooting under 180 and then maybe 0.1 or a drop.
 
:) .1 (halfway between the zero line and the first half mark which is .2) was only a drop of water the other night when I used it.
 
Any time between now and 615 is good to give him a shot, so I'll start testing him periodically to see if he throws a good number. Any later starts getting a little tight on the AM dose, even with adjusting back a half hour. 630 is when I have to be out of the house in the morning
 
So 45 min after the 144 I just got a 128.... I've been using the relion prime for a few weeks since I got it (cheaper strips) and decided I should double check with my relion micro meter... it was 120 on the micro :)
 
Sarah, I am so glad to see Cooter doing so well. I saw your marathon PJ party from the other night and you were a pro handling it! It looks like Cooter's goal is getting off the juice. Fingers crossed for you both! I'll be watching and hoping for a party real soon! :bighug:
 
Its 119 now, and I may have a problem with testing more....about 20 mintues ago one of the girls was hungry and decided to try to get to the dry food, spilt it all over the floor. Cooter got a nice mouthful....
 
Gave me a chance to soak his foot. Havent had a chance to do a good epsom bath on him for a few days. :) Now he's all pouty because he has to wear a toddler sock while the antibiotic cream soaks in, otherwise he licks it off o_O Thanks for the help Sue :)
 
Going to see if we can get him down a little farther this weekend with tiny doses maybe, can watch him like a hawk starting this PM cycle. But I think they look pretty good since he hasnt had any insulin since 5/18's PM cycle. Hes trying his best to get dry food for some reason, and got a mouthful last night around PMPS. keep telling him just because he didnt get a shot it doesnt mean he can go back to the old routine!
 
Are the other kitties still eating dry? Any way to change this? My concern is that sometimes a kitty is in remission, gets into dry food and suddenly is a diabetic again. It doesn't take much for some cats to get"back on the wagon". Have you tried the lower carb dry food (not perfect but better if there is a slip)

He is doing beautifully. Do you have a target number to look for this weekend? And a dose you might shoot if he gets there? My thinking is that if you have both, then you may not need them. :p
 
He has great numbers despite getting some kibble, that's great! Good luck with the micro dosing. Will be watching your progress!

Sue, I've got a half split in the house right now, some are eating wet, some are refusing to switch. I've been only feeding the dry as Cooter is on the counter eating his wet and then puttong it away after everyone has eaten. My slip up last night was getting everything out, and since I was stalling Cooter the girls got impatient and knocked one of the bowls over trying to get thier dinner. I've been very mindful of him and the dry. I went with a lower carbthen what they were eating option (instinct raw boost), but it didnt go over well... still trying to work that out

EDIT: Not sure what number to go with Sue... he seems to be staying in the lower 100's at PS, but he is a cat so who knows what he'll give me this evening...
 
How is that even possible? Some sort of month long diabetes? It was a month ago today the vet said he was diabetic.... temporary steroid induced? He was on steroids about 3-4 weeks before that, for about 3 weeks.... I'm so happy but confused!
 
Sarah, you are exactly right. It may have been steroid induced and now that the steroids are out of his system, he is going back to normal. Makes those PJ parties all worth it! I could not be happier for you! Go Lucky! I think I may be seeing another party in my crystal ball but this time it's an OTJ party! :D
 
Probaby just coincidence that it was the same as yesterdays, but caught my eye lol. He had me convinced this morning with the 111 that yesterday was a fluke, thought we'd be asking for dosing help this evening :) Keeping my fingers crossed he keeps it up! :cat:
