Good Morning!
Kitty did pretty well last night. She does seem a little weak to me, but I am hoping that her energy level will increase as the amemia improves. The vet changed her amemia medicition, so we will have to restart the regeneration process. The good news is her anemia is no worse. Her PMPS was 456-- that is awful, but considering the 23 percent carb food, it could have been worse. This morning was no better 423. The prescription food she is "suppose" to be eating is Purina NF--it appears very similar in phosphorus and protein content to the Royal Canine renal suppport---BUT, the carb content in the RC is only 8 percent compared to the 23. I have a call in to the vet to see if there is a medical reason related to her heart that I cannot change the food to the RC. The vet says the diabetes is not the most serious thing Kitty is fighting and that I should just maintain the BG the best I can and concentrate on the kidneys and heart. While I tend to agree, I see no reason in not feeding the "best" food to keep the BG in a decent range as long as I am not compromising the kidneys. I have fought diabetes so hard and long, that it is hard to give up the ship! I have also found some non prescription foods that look very promising-- I just need to find the right combination. We still have a very uphill battle.....BUT, we are fighting and loving!
I took the day off to monitor Kitty. Her birdfeeder is going up this morning!
