10 days ago, Diego had just gotten over a bout of constipation. He had always been known to have dried out, small BM's but never had any issues with being backed up before. Once he started having issues, I started him on plain Metamucil fiber (okay'd by my vet who was familiar with his medical history). 1 plain Metamucil capsule, split two ways between both cats in their food once per day. His bathroom habits have really, really improved since then. He's producing healthy and normal bowel movements and seems much happier.

I know some of the cats on here have issues with constipation and I wanted to put my 2 cents in. Canned pumpkin works for him too but it's the act of going into the refrigerator, taking the can out, measuring it out into food, mixing it up, etc that quickly became too time consuming for me. I was always too nervous to even try Miralax although I did buy a bottle. Sometimes the cheapest of things work the best. A bottle of 60 store-brand plain psyllium capsules costs about $4.97.

It seems that any kind of antibiotics will cause Goof to become constipated. So any time he's on it, I sprinkle a little (approx 1/8 tsp) Miralax on his food am and pm. That seems to do the trick

Caution where it's due, I guess. For my guy this is the most efficient at keep his GI tract moving along and healthy
