Looking for advice on how to "get things moving" for my 10 year old male Maine Coon fur baby. He was recently diagnosed (9/26/18) with diabetes & heart murmur and is going in tomorrow for IAA and IGF-1 tests. Drinking lots of water, heavy urine output, and eating approximately 6 oz Fancy Feast wet food with 1-2% carb content per day. Not very active. Has not had a bowel movement in a couple of days. On 4.0 12/12 units Lantus. Exhibiting hind leg weakness.
SEE 10/24/18 POST IN THIS THREAD.

I've always used Miralax. I use 1/4 teaspoon in food, some use 1/8 teaspoon. It may take over night or so to work.

My pharmacy only carries MiraLax in the powder form. Is that what you use? Should I just sprinkle 1/8-1/4 tsp of the powder directly into his wet food or mix it with water before adding to food?

10/24/18 - Maestro is very bloated. His last (small) BM was Sunday night and prior to that he had not had a bowel movement for several days. Sprinkling 1/4-1/2 tsp MiraLax+1/4 tsp olive oil on his wet food. Gave him a warm bath this morning. Praying this will get things moving today. Any other suggestions? NOTE: Maestro is a large Maine Coon. He weights 17.4 pounds, so maybe I need to increase amt of MiraLax??

Hoorah! I never thought there'd be a day when I texted all my friends because my cat pooped, but I'm in the same boat as you!

Oh yes TONS!!! Main Coons, omg I'mg going fangirl, I'm sorry I looooove THAT BREED!!! Oh give him love for me, huggles, cuddles, kisses, just molest the HELL out of him!

Ok so STOP - pause.. one at a time.

1.) He eats all wet food...? What? How many times a day, set times, amounts..?

---if yes = 1/8 miralax morning, mixed in with gravy/juice/jelly of his canned food and using 1 tablespoon to thin out, mix WELL gently with spoon, feed to him BEFORE breakfast.
---if he eats 3 times a day or 4, Maine Coon? BIG cat, 3.5 - 4 tablespoons water/tuna water/broth per mini meal or meal! No less!!!
---if you're at home to see him poop, at LEAST once - watch him! night time, 1/8 Miralax - start small and slow.
---if you're home when he poops, make sure its covered in litter - note it is it covered well, enough moisture for coating?
---scoop it into a bag and squish it - how much is soft, hard, how much hair in it, etc?

2.) If giving olive oil, give in the MORNING. Give Miralax at night - when is night feeding? You can lightly rub/jiggle his tummy up to 3 hours after night feed, he WILL burp! Just remember, slick morning, slow night - aka, oil morning, Miralax night. Watch for a few days - oil will help hairballs, Miralax stool. Watch the stool - play with it, you have to, it helps.

3.) Is he outside..?
