haven't gave Zoey insulin for 2-3 weeks now as his BG averages around 3-4mmol. Sugars have not gone over 6 the entire time. When I gave him insulin he was dropping to 1-2mmol. Anyway the diabetes seems to be in remission but he's still got weakness in his legs. He also scooted twice and is licking his bum a lot which I can only assume is anal sacs but he has also started throwing up. It's not a lot but it's been happening for several days. I've been on vacation for a week while my mother has been checking on him and she has seen puke around the house. I saw some this morning after waking up. He doesn't seem his normal self. I will most likely call the vet but I'm wondering if anyone knows what could be going on? It's not like him to puke often, usually only happens once in a while.
Little bit of background info: he's on fancy feast pate (switched him from a mix of DM dry and wet about a month ago). He has been on a mix of wet and dry his whole life, I don't suppose it could be related to the change in diet could it?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm concerned and just want him to feel better :(

Probably not the food because he's been on the FF pate for a while. Pancreatitis is a possibility. The vet can do a quick test in the clinic to get a yes/no answer. Treatment is aimed at controlling symptoms - fluids, pain meds, antinausea meds and appetite stimulant if needed.
 
Does he seem to be constipated? They will lick in that area if he is having trouble defecating or if he is irritated there due to anal sac inflammation and possible colitis if his colon is irritated.
It's also possible he has some problems with the food- allergies or just plain not tolerating it well. It's so hard to figure out sometimes but a trip to the vet is probably a good idea. He may also have some IBD if he's throwing up a lot more than normal.
 
The opposite, I think he's been pooing more often.
I wonder if he isn't tolerating the fancy feast diet well. He's not used to an entirely wet food diet. And even though it's fancy feast and it seems to work well with most cats on this forum I might have to reevaluate. Kind of afraid to bring it up to my vet as she'll just tell me to switch to the "prescription" food and is quite judgy when it comes to feeding "regular" food
 
You could try Friskies pates (no indoor formula though). Some kitties don't do well on FF, even though the majority seem to do OK. There are also Sheba pates that I'm starting to see more of :). You still have lots of options before turning to the expensive prescription foods :bighug:.

If his BG's are really staying that low, he may be diet controlled. When was the last time you administered insulin? I hope you're not dosing on those 3 and 4 mmol normal range numbers.
 
Some canned foods will give my Leo the runs but he has mild IBD so he is very sensitive to everything unfortunately. When I first got him from the shelter where he was used to eating only dry food I was trying all different kinds of canned and he threw up everything I gave him. Terribly frustrating time. I eventually got him transitioned to canned but it took a very long time and a lot of pukes and poos. He does well now on a grain free duck canned. The vets can be pretty obstinate about the prescription foods. Fortunately Leo's specialist is very flexible and recommended a limited ingredient single protein that did not have to be prescription as long as he was able to tolerate it.
 
Our 3 cats are all on a primary FF diet. They get other stuff, but mostly FF. It seems fine for all of them.
