Complex Carb's for cats?

I read the articles and think that there is some merit to what Dr Syme says. I suspect his ratio to wet food is too high (re the carbs), but my own situation since being diagnosed with coeliac has been that I have yukky blood glucose symptoms on the highly refined gluten free flours - most foods are prepared with white rice flour et al. Terrible stuff that makes me shakey soon after I've eaten it. I can have one slice of gluten free toast at breakfast but if I eat two pieces I feel bad all day. A few months ago I started eating gluten free whole oats (imported from the US) and it made a HUGE difference to how I felt. No more feeling sick, shakey, weak and hungry.

I think that it's ok for a cat to eat a small amount of carbs in relation to the correct percentage of raw and that it would make a lot of sense that those carbs are complex carbs. My cat is too old to eat new food that isn't dosed up with appetising bad stuff. He's a would be cat food junkie! i tried him on the complete mix yestrdat and he pretty much stood there and said "you gotta be joking"!

Just curious to hear what others think of it.

If you look at some of the canned formulas for diabetes, you'll see they may use lentil or pea flour as a carb source. I believe those may have a lower glycemic index and thus break down more slowly, yet provide calories.
