Ok, so this morning Tigger tested at 188. Since it was below 200, I thought better not give him his insulin which is normally 3 units. Then I remembered the bouncing he's been doing lately..so I gave him only 2 units and have tested him twice since. A little scary, since I've never readjusted his dosage myself. So at +3 he was at 148. Ok, that's good I thought..he's coming down. Just tested at +6 and he's already climbing up at 359!! If I had not given him ANY insulin this morning, I wonder where he would be? Should I have just given him the full 3 units in the AM, or nothing since he was under 200?
This is driving me nuts because I can't fix it

It could be a bounce or maybe 2 units wasn't enough and the Vetsulin is gone at +6. Sometimes if the dose is light, Vetsulin seems not to last as long. It is also possible that he went low overnight and then was starting back up. If that was the case, he is probably bouncing. 188 is close to 200, so next time try stalling. Wait 20 minutes without feeding and retest - to be sure he is rising, not falling and to see if he is closer to 200.

Maybe next time, try 2.5 if he is in the 180-200 range (once you have determined he is not still dropping) You have enough data to shoot in the 180-200 range IF you can monitor.

For now, you made a good decision that kept him safe and he was below 200 at preshot. Good news!
