Although I wasn't highly active here in the forums, I wanted to let you all know that Coke passed away on Tuesday, 1/4/2011. All of the members here so were so incredibly helpful when he was first diagnosed with diabetes back in 2006, and then again recently after his holiday from insulin shots was over.

When Coke was first diagnosed, one of the members here (I'm sorry I don't remember her name), was so nice... she sent us a testing meter and test strips, lancets and other supplies we needed to test Coke prior to his shots because my husband had been recently laid off and we were broke. So now I'd like to pay it forward... we have a lot of supplies that we are willing to give away to people in hardship situations, and I can ship them anywhere in the US. Here's a list:

Brand new, unopened package of UltiCare Vet Rx U-40 (red capped) insulin syringes 3/10 cc, 29 gauge x 1/2'', package has 100 syringes plus the plastic disposal box
Three unused UltiCare Vet Rx U-40 (red capped) insulin syringes 3/10cc, 29 gauge x 1/2'', left over from the most recent package of syringes we had been using
155 ultra fine lancets (don't remember the brand, but they're the beige ones with the circular top that twists off)
One sack of 80 count cosmetic pads (for blotting the blood on kitty's ear)
One box of 100 unused Kroger brand U-100 (orange capped) Insulin syringes 3/10 cc, 31 gauge x 5/16''
One box of 92 unused Kroger brand U-100 (orange capped) Insulin syringes 3/10 cc, 31 gauge x 5/16''
One Ascensia Contour testing meter (does not include test strips or lancet device)
One Walgreen's TrueTrack testing meter (this one has 32 test strips left which expire 9/30/2012 and also includes lancet pen)

I don't know if it's ok to give away his insulin or not, but I've got probably about 1/2 bottle of ProZinc insulin which expires 3/2012 still in my refrigerator. So if anyone is local to the Dallas, TX area (actually Frisco), and uses ProZinc insulin and wants to come pick it up, I'm happy to give that away as well.

Ok, I think that about covers all the supplies I've got to give away. Many thanks again to all the members here who helped us in 2006 and again in 2010. I know you all helped extend the time we had with Coke and your help sure made a difference to me when it came to managing his disease. Feel free to post here if you want "dibs" on any of the supplies, and then I'll PM you for your info once we figure out who gets what.

Vicki, I am so sorry to learn about the loss of Coke. I remember when you posted that he was back on the juice.
My deepest sympathies.

Fly free Coke. wings_cat

((((((Vicki)))))), so sorry about your loss. Fly free, ~~~Coke~~~, Norton will meet you at the bridge!

Thanks for "paying it forward" and sharing Coke's supplies.

So sorry for your loss may Coke fly free and land softly back in your heart. It is a lovely sentiment to pay it forward. God bless you and God bless little Coke.

I'm so sorry to read of Coke's passing. How very thoughtful of you to think of passing along your supplies in your time of grief.

Thanks to everyone for the warm thoughts and wishes. Coke was a love of a boy and I will miss him dearly. I've been told that Lori and Tomtom are the keepers and distributors of the supplies for the newly-diagnosed, and so I will forward all Coke's unused supplies to them to pass on to all the people who are lucky enough to have found this forum. We're still looking for anyone who might need his unused ProZinc insulin in the Dallas, TX vicinity, so please PM me if you know of anyone that could use it. Thanks again to everyone for all the help over the years, you folks are truly a blessing for all of us nervous people who had no clue how to handle this big feline diabetes news.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Its nice to see that you're paying it forward with the supplies. I did the same with Yittle's and felt great satisfaction knowing that someone else was going to benefit. That I was in effect, giving to somebody else each precious day I'd had with him since finding here and learning how to care for him for the time we had.

I'm so sorry that your handsome orinch boy had to leave you - what a handsome guy. It's so difficult to say goodbye and I'm sending many comforting prayers and hoping that your wonderful memories and love you shared will help you in your grief.
