My 14 year old female cat has used litter box for years (even after spending all day outside). Always used Tidy Cats clumping litter. Did try the Breeze litter system prior to being diagnosed diabetic (a little over month ago) and stopped after poop was continuously runny (seems to be switching back to normal). Is this normal for litter to be like mud instead of clumping as before? I have gone through 3 containers in just over 2 weeks. Am cleaning weekly litter box (washing).

Maybe the higher amount of glucose that is now in the urine is causing the problem. I would try another brand of clumping litter.
She is at vets office for the day for bath and bloodwork. Am going to try pine litter next since her last poops this past week have been solid but I sure did like the breeze system. We shall continue trying. I did hear that her kidney level, something, changed since last time and she had lost a pound (might be weighing about 9 pounds now). I will know more later when I pick her up. Fortunate the vet is a friend who lives 10 minutes from me though his office is 45 minutes away). He has only a few cats on this medicine since it has come out and others are doing well.

Back when Spot was first diagnosed one of the key issues I took him in for was the litter box issues. He peed so much the clay litter would dissolve and turn to mud and then get stuck in his paws. I can’t speak for Senvelgo as we’ve never used it, but I would be worried about glycemic control if he's still peeing like that. We went through several different types of litter to help in the beginning. There’s a corn based one called Worlds Best that worked pretty well. We did eventually settle on Tidy cat breeze so maybe once his poops are back to normal it might be worth considering switching back.

Interesting. At the vets office they use the pine pellets but at their house they use the corn based litter. I am going to try mixture of pine with some regular litter.
Her numbers in relationship to Senvelgo came back great yesterday she is down to 9 pounds. But the vet has done some bloodwork that I will hear about today. Not sure what for. He thinks something going on with kidneys. I appreciate hearing that I’m not the only experiencing this about the litter and the solutions everyone is suggesting.

Sugar levels great, blood levels not good. Just received news she is in kidney failure. She has just started showing other signs that indicate all not well. Course of treatment, let her live as she wants. Might be reason for litter turning to mud. How much longer I don’t know but trying to treat is not really option. This last year has been a rough one and I won’t let her suffer.

Having had a couple of kitties with kidney disease, there are aspects that you can still manage. Lots of great information and reading here at the link below.

Interesting. Unfortunately she is quickly showing signs that are not good such as not eating as much or turning down food, drinking lots of water, walking with a different gait, staying in one of her homes all day except to eat and bathroom, not wanting to be touched, peeing more, bloodwork not good as things very elevated, allowing my other cat near her when normally she does not and all he is doing is sniffing and licking her then moving on (very unusual). I am going to watch for her to signal me if she does. Am going to let her enjoy her sunshine until time comes. Just love on her as much as she lets me

My cat is still with increased urine and drinking PU/PD and we were having the same issues. We now use the breeze sifting litter box but we get pine pellets from Tractor Supply for $7 and the bag lasts a couple months
