Hi,
Lolly went in for hr wellness check
Three weeks ago, she had been doing great, just getting checked. Her numbers were good, but vet said she had minor UTI, (some rod bacteria in her urine. Urine was collected from a puddle in the carrier). Also Vet recommends a dental for exposed nerves on right side. A year ago she had a short bout of pancreatitis, had been fine since then eating normally no lethargy.
Vet prescribed Clavamox for 7 days I can’t remember dosage, it was every 12 hours. I gave it her powdered in food. She tolerated it well, no sign of stomache upset. She has taken it twice before in her life with no side effects.
Then two days after finishing the Clavamox she had a terrible bout of vomiting every 20 minutes for 12 hrs. It took two visits to vet, Cerenia shots, subQ fluids, me hand feeding, famotidine, etc. only today, 2 weeks later is she fully back to her old self. She was really nauseous for two days, inappetent for four, then lethargic slowly improving till today thank god.
Is it possible that the Clavamox caused this episode even though had no signs of distress during admin and was fine for two days after? Vet did not think it could be the Clavamox. Lolly hasn’t had something like this - vomiting every 20 minutes - before. Her pancreatitis flare last year was inappetance and lethargy only. Just seems too coincidental.
Thanks for advice.
