I have not had to post anything about Chicken Little in the last couple of months because she had been doing so well. Her numbers remained a steady 190's to 230's and she was feeling great. Yesterday and today that all ended with her shooting up into the 400's again!! This morning she was almost at 500 with a 498!! She is back to starving and wanting to eat every few seconds and she is drinking tons of water and her pee is as big as the state of Texas!! I don't know what has happened to cause this but of course it has me worried. Especially as on Thanksgiving we will have a houseful of family and I'm sure that will really stress her out. Anyways Im back to posting again until I can get her back in control!!
On a happier note, I received my 2014 Calender and I have truly enjoyed seeing everyone's fur babies!! I just loved how the month of October had all black and orange kitties displayed!!
(I did cry when I saw the picture of Bob) I cant wait till the new years so I can start using it!!

Re: CL shoots back up and I love the 2014 calender

Always good to see you, Terri, though not for this reason. :o

Two ideas. Wonder if there is a chance she has started going low and bounced back up? If you can get a midcycle number, it will give you that answer. If not, any chance that she has a infection - UTI? That is the other possibility. Of course, right on time for the holiday...

Your insulin is still good....

Re: CL shoots back up and I love the 2014 calender

I would suspect "something else", like Sue mentioned. An infection, pancreas inflamed, just something that would cause a change in the numbers that isn't related to the dose.

Thanks. Me too. But I was happy to see him in June. He came to us a couple weeks old in June, 2000. So that seemed fitting. I sent in two pics of him for this year, and I'm glad to see that Deanie picked that one.

Re: CL shoots back up and I love the 2014 calender

Last night her number was 311 so I shot her with 2.5 units of insulin. This AM her number was 477 so I shot her with 3.5 units of insulin.
I also tested her for keytones this morning and it was negative. I did it twice to make sure. Insulin is still good as far as I can tell. Exp. date still good and its been in the fridge, color looks good and I opened it about a month ago. Its still 3/4 full. She had a normal sized pee this morning and no blood or anything to suggest a UTI. Not yet anyway. I've kept her on Drs Foster and Smith Cranberry Health ever since her last UTI (May/June)
I will keep a good eye on her and get a mid cycle reading today since I'll not be a able to tomorrow.

6+ is 223 so at least I know the insulin is working??
