Tabby, our 17 yr old civvie has been blind or mostly blind for a year now. She gets around fine, we don't move stuff in the house, and she has her usual paths to the food, litter, etc. She even jumps on my bed and the couch for a snooze. This afternoon late, she was in my room sleeping, and I was in the living room. She walked out, really slowly, looking "lost" . She was not purring as she always does, and was not vocal as she normally is. I felt all of her bones, etc, and everything feels ok. But she keeps "pacing" around the house, getting stuck in odd corners where she never went before, behind an open door, etc. I finally put her in a spare room with a baby gate. She ate a hearty meal, and used the litter box, but her posture is so unlike her normal self. I will take her to the vet tomorrow, but what could be wrong? My one ds thinks she may have lost some hearing, as she didn't respond to him shaking keys, etc. But I think she can hear me. I'm really stumped.

Geriatric cats may show some signs of cognitive dysfunction syndrome.

This a fairly recent concept in cats, ask your vet if they'd know about it or would research it in the links above. There are some treatments for it.

Check here too, for more info.
