While having tea this morning with Tux (older, spayed female) in my lap, I noticed a swollen reddish spot below her left eye, on the eyelid. Upon looking closer, it appeared to be an ulceration of the scar from a surgery 4 years ago to remove a basal cell carcinoma (very slow moving, locally invasive type of cancer).

Tux and I were able to get in to the vet this afternoon @ 3 pm. When the vet saw her, she agreed it was either a regrowth of the tumor or another one developing in the same general area. *sigh*

My Tux is staying at the vet overnight for surgery in the morning to remove it. nailbite_smile

Lets hope she can get it out while leaving a functional eyelid.

She's a bit of a Franken-kitty right now - shaved lower left eyelid with 8 millimeter incision closed by 4 long-tailed stitches.

Younger cats hissing at her because she still doesn't smell right.

Good appetite this am, and delighted to have mom cuddle her.
