Casper my flame-point meezer, just isn't feeling well, and since my vet is closed today I was hoping someone here might have an idea of something I can do to make him feel a little better until I can get him tomorrow.

He is still eating. drinking and purring, haven't stalked him yet to figure out if he is peeing and pooping just yet. But I can tell by the way he is acting he isn't feeling well. He is sneezing a lot, and just not his normal bright-eyed, active self, in fact he is sleeping a lot, wanting to be on my lap (unusual for him, he is normally DH's lap cat not mine). And last night while he was on both mine and DH's lap, he was trembling, like a human having chills. When he is sneezing it is several shotgun type sneezing but he doesn't have watery eyes, and doesn't seem to be sneezing anything out either.

Now the only thing that has changed in his/household routine is that I have been spring cleaning and yesterday(when this started) I had been deep cleaning the bathroom and some of the cleaning products had pretty strong scents (lime remover). I did keep the cats out of the bathroom while I was cleaning it, but some of the smells naturally got into the rest of the house through the vents. And since I'm pullling out things that haven't been cleaned behind since last year, there is more dust in the air right now.

I started him on L-Lysine this morning...and I do plan on taking him into the vet tomorrow, but does anyone have a clue what might be wrong and how to make him more comfy until we can get in to see the vetty-bean?

Casper is home from the vet's he is suffering from airborn allergies, very much like Hayfever in humans. So he is now on Benadryl during high pollen days. He was purring so much while he was there that Dr Rick couldn't hear his lungs so he got x-rayed...good news no signs of asthma on the x-rays, lungs looked great on film. Of course he didn't sneeze once while we were at the vet's, then I get him home and he sneezed his little brains out. Cats sheesh!

The upside to the trip is that we got to discussing Max and they want me to bring in Binky's list and any kind of flyer or pamphlet I can find or make up on how we do it here with our extra sweet babies. And Max and I are going in next Tuesday (they are normally closed, but are calling a special office meeting) to give all the vets and the vet techs a demo on home-testing. These guys are great and really want to learn how best to help their FD patiences. <happy dance>

Sounds like you have a great vet :thumbup

There are FDMB posters and business cards that you can print out and give to your vet: http://felinediabetes.com/word.htm

There's also this: http://www.sugarcats.net/sites/dmstrick ... sflyer.htm

Thanks Squeem,

I knew I had seen some stuff around but didn't remember where I saw it so the links are really going to help.

Yeah, I have a fantastic bunch of Vets, they are a tiny clinic only 3 vets and about 6 techs. But they are absolutely awesome, they take payments, they aren't vacination happy, and don't even have Covenia in the clinic, in fact I had to spell it for them when I asked that all my charts be marked not to give it or Metacam. They really care about the animals they see and have always been very willing to work with me as a partner in my animals care and treatment. Extremely opened minded. I love them to death.
