I am living in a 4 cat household.. if the apt I live in permitted more I would. But the question is about my youngest girl. Morgana she is a black bangle cross. I was scheduled to get her fixed through the human society in mid march. Due to covid that was put on indefinite hold, the problem is.. she loves to not just chew cardboard boxes but to actually eat them! Not simply that but packing tape.. has any one ever encountered this and how do I stop it.. short of having no cardboard or packing tape where she can get her mouth on. Thing is.. the scratch pad she loves and the others is cardboard. If she cannot find a box to chew on she will chew that. I am at a loss to do anything. Also update on Bright eyes got her to the vet and she has a clean bill of health. Other than kitty arthritis and some hearing loss. Turns out the vet suspects that her issues are very likely a combo issue of kitty dementia and the fact that Morgana is an intact female. That and Morgana loves to make Bright eyes her favorite moving squeaky toy!

My Nala loves paper. If I lease some out she will chew it into small pieces. Sometimes it is strange to see "confete" alongside a half "eaten" piece of paper or envelope.

Bit sure the cardboard could really hurt her but if try to avoid letting her eat tape.

For your cat with arthritis.... Ask about adequan shots!!!! They are life changing for an arthritic cat.

Here is an example of Nala's work

Lewis chews on plastic bags. In the basement Daniele pees on anything plastic laying flat on the floor, it's just what he does.
No photo but there's a 2X4 stud in the basement that Andrew clawed into a toothpick. For sentimental reasons I just put another stud next to it and let it be.

I'm surprised your humane society isn't doing spays/neutering right now. It's hardly something that should be put on the back-burner, considering the whole purpose is to prevent unwanted kittens/puppies. My kitten was just spayed last month at the humane society I got her from.

I had a cat who loved to chew on plastic wrappers and other oddities. Once pulled an entire balloon string out of her mouth. I just made sure the house was "Sandy-proofed"
