Anybody ever used ground cinnamon and added to food to help with glucose levels? I saw that it helps with humans and I called the vet and explained my question and asked if cinnamon was toxic if ingested by cats in small amounts. They said no it’s not toxic. Anyone thought of this or done it and had results? I was thinking like a 1/4 teaspoon a day

A 1/4 teaspoon is a lot of cinnamon. If anything maybe just a sprinkle. But even that may be more than your kitty will tolerate. It has a very strong smell so may be a turn off...

Hello,

I don't post very often, but I saw your question about cinnamon and immediately jumped on my computer to be able to properly reply. I would be very hesitant to give a cat cinnamon. The most common type available is Cassia, and excess Cassia cinnamon consumption can cause very serious health problems, the worse being severe liver damage. Cats are so much smaller than us, and there's not really any guidelines yet for what a safe level of Cassia consumption is for humans, let alone other animals. If you do decide to try cinnamon to help with blood glucose levels, make sure it's "true" Ceylon cinnamon. It can be hard to find, and unfortunately even if it's advertised as Ceylon, you might still be getting Cassia.

Thank you for letting me know. I forgot to try this morning so now that I know this I won’t bother. Dang it did such wonders for my mother in law that I was hopeful. Thank you
