Since Cinco relapsed last fall, we have had several false starts trying to get him OTJ. We had pretty much accepted that he may not go into remission this time, but we had him down to .50 units twice a day and he seemed to be doing well there. His BG was pretty consistent with some really low numbers thrown in, and we decided to try dropping him to .25. He did great the first week, but the preshot numbers started creeping up. We are thinking about taking him back to .5, but I'm concerned because his post shot numbers are usually in the 60-80 range now. I could really use some input from the veterans out there on what we should do. Some things to consider: We are still using the same vial of Lantus we got in October - could the age of his insulin be a factor and should we get a new one? He is very sensitive to change and stress, but there have been no stressful incidents in the past month or so. His behavior, appetite and activity levels have not changed. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi, Tricia!!

More than 6 mos. may be pushing it with your Lantus. The first thing I'd try is a new vial. If numbers are still the same, you might think about shooting a "fat" 0.25u.

Re: Cinco PMPS 191 +2.5 215!

Now I am really concerned. Can't imagine why he went UP 2.5 hours after his PM shot. He's done nothing but sleep since the shot and dinner. Feeding Friskies pate, so it's not the food.
