Hi Steph, @Carol & Murphy and I have switched to Levemir and @Bobbie And Bubba switched to Lantus. If you think you may want to try one or the other, let us know and maybe we can explain the way they work. One thing about the depot insulins is you learn to shoot lower numbers-anything over 50 on a human meter- once you know how kitty responds. So since the insulin lasts longer, you usually are shooting a lower number and actually end up with a steady cycle(usually)

He did drop at 2.5. He got to a yellow today... I read online from a site that suggests this forum for help on anything feline diabetes. It said that the scruff is the least effective spot to shoot due to lower blood flow there. So I decided I would try the scruff. Well it definitely seems to absorb a bit slower. It was harder to get a good grip on any skin there too. He's still so skinny. So I think I'll stick with the scruff area until he gets a bit fatter. I just feel bad that we are always shooting there. DH shoots lower on the scruff and I shoot higher... maybe we can try to the left or right for a bit. He's not acting like it hurts him but I don't want him to develop an issue from getting poked in the same spot so much.

I'm going to try the baby food for tomorrow's snack. I have YA Mature Zero sample coming in the mail. If it doesn't spike his numbers a lot I'm buying some for his snacks.
