Can someone explain what a chronic rebound is and what it would look like. What would you do to find out if it is or isn't chronic rebound.

THANKS!

The Pet Diabetes Wiki does a very good job explaining it.

There is a graph, but the hard thing about rebound is actually catching that extreme dip in BG. Unless someone is testing several times per cycle, your results may all look high, which is one reason some of us consider constant high numbers as indicative of rebound too, especially if the cat has been on insulin for a while with no break in BG. Also, after a while glucose toxicity also known as insulin resistance can set in.

It is why raising the dose often works, but one must be prepared for lower numbers that require a dose decrease.

Hope this enlightens you.
