Has anyone here had (or have) a cat with a diagnosis of Chronic Lymphocytic Cancer? Hootie was just diagnosed with it and I'm wondering what we're in for. It's the weekend so I'm not sure if the two oncologist vets we were referred to will be open tomorrow to schedule appointments or if I have to wait until Monday. Meanwhile I thought I'd find out every thing I could while I'm waiting. He's 18 so that will be a factor in any decision too.

I am sorry about the diagnosis. Here are a couple of articles about it:

You may face a decision on whether or not to pursue chemotherapy. That type of cancer can be 'slow', so you may opt to forgo the chemo in light of his age. I am sure the oncologist will be able to provide you with more information on your options so that you can make an informed decision. These types of decisions, in my opinion, are one of the hardest parts of pet parenthood. Many of us have been in similar situations. It's hard. It stinks. I hope things go as well as possible for Hootie.. and you. :bighug:

I'm so sorry - to clarify - this is a type of blood cancer (chronic lymphocytic leukemia) and not the lymphomas commonly associated with IBD (small and large cell lymphomas of the GI track)?
All good thoughts to you and Hootie. :bighug::bighug:
