I'm sad to report that I could not get enough blood for a PMPS. CL has been through so much in the last 2 days that after I poked her 6 or 7 times I just gave up.
Fed her 1/2 can FF that I souped up with a lot of water. Shot her with 2.5 units. Also spiked the food with 1 cap Cosequin.
She is not getting in the little box as much and when she does she is pee'ing a bigger amount. Still not normal but I think she is getting a little bit better than she was last night. Still licking herself
down there a lot so I know she is still hurting. grumpy_cat
Well I spoke to soon - shes back in the box

Re: Chicken's PMPS

Yes I took her to the vet yesterday. Came home with antibiotic but no pain meds. Going to call back tomorrow and ask for pain med. She is not much better this AM. Could not get enough blood for a AMPS and after about 6 or 7 pokes I quit. I guess I need a new meter that takes a smaller amount of blood than the Relion Prime. Most of the time I get blood but its not enough for the test. I also milk the ear to try and get more but its not been very successful. I also just placed a order with Drs Foster and Smith for some products for UTI that were suggested to me but that dont do me much good today. Going to take 3-5 days to get the order. Mixed her up a cup of tuna water and trying to get as much down her as I can.
Wished I could make her better grumpy_cat

:YMHUG: :YMHUG: One for you and one for Chicken Little. So sorry hon. Nothing worse than when your baby doesn't feel well. You feel so helpless. Just hang in there :YMSIGH:

I am really starting to get pissed off!! Why the vet did not give me something for pain I dont know but watching her do nothing but get in and out of the box since 3:30 this morning is killing me!!
I read on the net that some people give their cats crushed Vitamin C in their food. Well Im so desperate that I tried doing that but she wont eat the food. Ive tried putting so much water down her that she wont touch anything now. After watching her suffer for 2 days Im really getting ANGRY!!!

Do you have an ER vet? Maybe they can give your some pain meds for CL? I know this must be so hard on you and on CL too. :YMHUG: Sorry sweetie

Thanks, I'll find a ER vet and see if they will. I doubt it unless I bring her there and thats the last thing I want to do!! Anyway it could not hurt to ask.
Thanks Joyce

They wont do it unless I bring her in. They charge $92.50 just for bringing her in plus test plus meds. I cant do it. My dh would have a cow. I guess I just have to wait until tomorrow morning at 9am when the vet comes in. I promise you I'll be there on his doorstep waiting on him. She cant sleep or sit still for 5 minutes. Back and forth to the box is all she does. She has finally run out of pee. I managed to get about a half a cup of water down her but its not enough to keep her peeing. I just cant get her to drink anymore. I'm going to have to get ready and go take my dad to church. I dont really want to go off and leave her but my dad dont need to drive himself and if I dont go take him thats what he will do. There is nothing more I can do except be with her. I really hate to leave her with the dh. I might as well be leaving her by herself. Leaving her with him is the same thing.

BIG HUGE LOOOOOONG HUG Terri - the place where you are right now stinks! I'm sorry you and sweet CL are having to go thru this. I hope you can get some kind of pain med or something to help her feel a bit more comfortable.

Meter - one of my backups is the Prime - in my opinion, it STINKS too. It takes so much blood and strips don't seem to 'sip' easily. I have the ReliOn Confirm and LOVE it. It takes the smallest drop of blood I've found and it sips very easy. I can even get enough of a drop down in Dakota's long hair for the meter to pick up. I tend to throw the Prime against the wall after about 2 days...

BIG HUG again,

I had read somewhere that the Confirm took a very small drop. That's the one I was going to check out. I'll go tomorrow and buy one on the way to the vets office. You are right the Prime don't sip up the blood very well either. Its not cost effective anyway when I waste so many strips on failed test!
All I have on hand today was some Bach Rescue Remedy for pets. I just spiked her some Raw food and water with it and she ate it and went in her closet. I am praying that she can sleep in there until I get back from Church. I dosed her with the AB as well so now she has 2 days worth of AB in her. Praying I see some improvement today!
Im feeling much better about leaving her since she is in the closet. I-) Hey at least I'll be somewhere I can get a lot of prayers in for her!
Thanks

You might post on Health and see what other people like best as an antiobiotic for a UTI. Maybe there is a better choice?

Sorry she is feeling so crummy. I like your idea of trying the other meter.

Sue,
Ive been PM'ing back and forth with Ann and Tess and she told me that I have a good AB. She has a lot of knowledge on the subject since her Tess has had a lot of UTI's. She gave me a link to go to and read that taught me a lot and also told me about some products that I should purchase that will be good for preventing UTI's in the future. She also suggested a probiotic since the AB is going to destroy the good flora in her guts. I went to Dr Foster and Smith this morning and placed a order for the things that she recommended for me. Tomorrow I'm going to the vet and get a pain killer that I read about on the link she sent me and then I'm headed to Walmart to get the new meter and a new lancet pen!! I'm on a mission to get the numbers for her DOWN DOWN DOWN and I cant do that if I cant get BG reading when I need to.

I've been back home for about 30 minutes and she was up and awake. I did not try and get BG tonight. I just fed her some raw with a lot of water mixed in and spiked with another dose of Bach's Rescue Remedy. Then I shot her with 2.5 units. I then went and checked the litter box and she has left 1 pee in there since 12 o'clock this afternoon when I left. It actually looks about the normal size and not one of those little tiny spots she had been leaving. After she ate she wanted outside on the porch. I thought that it was a good sign.

Tomorrow loaded up with pain killer, new lancet and new meter I will be on a mission to do a curve!!
Thanks bunches and bunches for all the help and support
