I know many of you feed baby food to your cats as an enticer etc… Lando seems to like it and since he is not eating due to nausea i am encouraging it. What are the drawbacks of chicken baby food? Is it ok for ckd cats? Its beechnut chicken + chicken broth ( those are the only two ingredients

FWIW i just got a blender and will be blending his low carb, low phos food tomorrow

Yes, it's OK for short-term use but it doesn't include all the vitamins/minerals that cats need for a complete diet.

It can also be useful for hiding meds if Lando really likes it.

I feed a jar of the Beechnut beef beef broth to my boys every morning after there AMPS meal. That's the only way I can get there probiotic in them Proviable DC, I guess it has a taste tried it in there food & they both refused it.

Thank you @Chris & China (GA) and @Chrispooky12 . I will make sure beechnut chicken doesnt become his goto food ( i think that is Landos wish right now). With the “broth” in the jar of food, im guessing it has high phos ( for ckd cats). But for a little while eating the not best food is better than not eating

I did the same. I used to give Minnie 1/4 jar of baby food every day with her probiotics and b12. I just opened the capsules and mixed it in. It was an easy way to get her to take those meds. I alternated between chicken and turkey

As Chris pointed out, baby food isn't nutritionally complete for a cat. It can be fine in the short term or in combination with cat food. Otherwise, you would need to get a pre-mix (e.g., EZComplete) to add to it so all of the necessary supplements to make the baby food nutritionally complete are included.

Thank you Sienne! My hope is to blitz his low carb low phos wet food to the same texture as baby food. I am pretty much using the baby food as an appetite starter righr now. I appreciate the advice
