Morning all,
Just thought I'd check in with a Cheeky update. Today is two weeks since her diagnosis, and we visited the vet this morning for a quick once-over. The news is very positive (apart from the fact she's bouncing again today, damn).
• her weight is stable, she hasn't lost any more YAY.
• her chest is much less noisy than it was AND the slight heart arrythmia is GONE
so there was definitely infection burbling along while she was uncontrolled. She might need another a/b dose in a week or so to knock it completely on the head (she has convenia shots because pills are just not gonna happen) but we'll see.
• the vet was concerned (well, a bit huffy actually) about why I wasn't feeding her m/d exclusively, but after I explained that I'd banned kibble and couldn't even use timed feeders because Bodie can't have m/d, and that the 'catsickles' were actually proper raw cat steak with all added vitamins/minerals, she was mollifed. Geez. My cat, my purse!! how much more high-protein/low carb can I get than raw meat FFS???
• BUT the best news of all--I've solved my BIGGEST worry, about how best to ensure she's safe while I go to NZ for 2 weeks in July; she's booked into my local state-of-the-art Adelaide Animal Hospitals boarding cattery "Cats in the City" where vets are on call 24/7 and the carers are all animal techs. Pricey, but for peace of mind worth every damn cent. I've got 4 weeks to put some money aside to help with the bill
Here's the link if anyone wants to see http://www.adelaidevet.com.au/cat-boarding
I'm so relieved I've been crying on and off all morning, just as well my boss isn't here yet
I hope everyone is having a good day/night.
Lesley, the Cheekster and Old Man Bodie (who had to have an enema at the vet and was NOT impressed   )
