Hi,
Unfortunately I missed the last advice I got not to increase the dose to 1.75. Someone previously thought I was sitting too long at a lower dose so I went up to 1.75 and then 2.0 after about 2 weeks. I am worried because I can’t seem to get her under the renal threshold most of the time. I will be able to do some mid cycle testing tomorrow night and for the next two weeks. Any change that you suggest I make now?

thank you
Sandy

It looks like you're following SLGS. The goal with SLGS is to get your cat's blood glucose into a range that's better than what you're currently seeing. You want to hold a dose for a week and evaluate the effectiveness of the dose unless the numbers drop below 90. If numbers fall below 90, you reduce the dose by 0.25u. If numbers are over 150 during the week, you increase the dose by 0.25u. This is the link to the guidelines for SLGS -- the information follows the section on Tight Regulation.

From Sadie's spreadsheet, it looks like you've been holding doses a bit longer than necessary. I also want to encourage you to routinely get at least one PM cycle test. It looks like Sadie may like to drop into lower numbers at night, especially toward the end of the cycle. Many cats have the same tendency and it's important to not miss what may be a dose reduction.

thank you
