Good Morning LL
Time to look up those higher carb lc foods, Marje suggested. I don't want him dropping low again today. Trouble is, he isn't interested in boring everyday food. If I need to get his numbers up, it needs to be something yummy.
He'll eat the gravy fuds, 'cause they're yummy....then get diarrhea :YMSIGH:
Guess I'll be at the grocery store again today.....as long as he doesn't plummet and keep me home.

Morning Barb ~O) ~O) ~O)

Nice start for Checks today - I see blue and a slide... not too low Checkers. Your bean needs to fuds shop for you, so you be good.

Good luck with the food hunt Barb. It can so such an ordeal when they are fussy eaters. I wish I had some suggestions for you. I do hear you on the yummy thing. It got to be that way with Mannie too. As I remember there were a couple of Avoderm foods that were LC and he really liked. Chicken with veggies I think? dang - how quickly we forget.... I wish you luck!

Have a good one today. And Checks: surf well!

Re: Checkers amps 218 +2/184

Thanks Michelle. I was just looking at 'the chart".....for higher carb FF. I have only local grocery stores to shop. No access to fancier foods. :YMSIGH:
I'm going to see if Checkers like honey. I've never tried it.....I don't use karo, 'cause the thought of sweet cat food, sounds icky to me....like plain cat food sounds good??
Actually I love sweet sauces with chicken and pork, so maybe Checkers would also like sweetened chick cat food.*shrug*

Re: Checkers amps 218 +2/184

Hi Barb, much luck on the fuds stuff. I may be repeating what someone else offered, but have you tried any of the Friskies line. Mags loves the SD Friskies Turkey & Giblets. It's not that high in carbs but sure acts like a MC for her. Have a great day.

Re: Checkers amps 218 +2/184+3/151

Actually Ann, Friskies is one of the brands I'm going to try. A higher carb on, that is. Thank you.

i like that they all can eat Friskies, without breaking the bank. I just keep coming back to FF for Himself, 'cause he likes it better.

I just tried him on honey, and he loved the slightly sweetened sour cream. He's a dairy freak, anyway, but at least I know he will accept honey.
He had dropped 30 points in an hour, and I'd like him to stay in the range where he is now.

You hear that Checkers? Surf in those safe blues for your bean so she can go shopping. Have a great day Barb!

Re: Checkers amps 218 +2/184+3/151

If Checkers gets diarrhea from HC, there's a good chance he's gluten sensitive. I use either corn syrup or honey with Gabby since she has the same issue.

I hope Checkers keeps surfing blue for you today. Good luck with the food hunt.

Re: Checkers amps 218 +2/184+3/151

Hi Barb. Looks like Checkers is making a nice slow descent toward the Lagoon. Hope he continues the trend in a safe manner.

Good luck on the food hunt. Have a great day.

Hey Barb

I am so sorry I don't remember this but I don't think you are limiting his phosphorus right? IF you are, Avoderm Chicken is 9% and 196 mgP/100kcal (I shoot for less than 200 with Gussie). Also, if you are looking for lower P (about 200 mgP/100kcal), Precise Chicken is 9% and Precise Turkey is 10%. You would just have to experiment and see if they control his numbers. ECID

I haven't used any of the above to control numbers for Gracie but I was just throwing it out as a higher low carb food. For Gracie, I use Pet Guard Savory Seafood (10%) but I don't know what the phosphorus is if that is a number you need. She doesn't get it that often; while I'd like for her to not have any fish, it works so great at stopping those fast drops and bringing her up from lows that I don't need the karo. I use the karo when she's in the 20s because I want her up FAST out of those numbers. But, I do see, for Gracie, that the 10% works for her within 30-45 minutes.

The 5% food I use is Wellness Core Turkey and Duck. It's actually more effective than the Core that is 8% that just goes to show that you have to experiment. (Remember Dr. Lisa says the food manufacturers can't guarantee that a specific food is ALWAYS going to be exactly the same %calories from carbs from batch to batch).

Looking good today, Checkers!

*SIGH*.......I used to think, living in the middle of nowhere was nice, until I found I needed cat food that is not available at local supermarkets.
If I drive the 50 miles to PetsMart, and buy one of everything, he will love it the first time, then reject. I've done that too many times.
Bought a case of PawLickin, which he loved at first, and you can guess the rest. Tossed many cans, after he licked the juice.
I have a link to a place that sells cans, one at a time. I can either try some, or just stick to the FF and add honey, when needed.

Thank you all for advice.

And sticking with FF and adding honey is absolutely FINE!!!! The best food is the one he will eat. Make it easy on you, Barb.
