Cheapest way to safely ship insulin?

Ice packs, overnight shipping, specialty packaging - yikes! Is it possible to ship insulin within the US for less than $30-40?
 
Yikes is right! You can get insulin delivered over here - including the chilled packaging - for about GBP 4.00. (No help to your good self, unfortunately.)
 
I have always shipped and received it using priority shipping. Wrap the vial or pen in bubble wrap and then place the ice packs around it. I also wrap everything again in bubble wrap to provide extra insulation. Then use one of the USPS priority shipping boxes to ship it. As long as the insulin does not get hot, it should be fine. I have never had an issue with any of the insulin I have received packed this way.
 
Ah, right. Flatrate boxes! Okay, that'll get us closer. Thanks for the idea for that.
