I agree with everything @Suzanne & Darcy has said about the subQ fluids and respiratory rate.
Suzanne what do you think about the dose moving forward?
History of DKA and poor appetite. Is syringe fed and eats a little dry. I’ve told Jaymi to feed whatever Charlie will eat for now.
No ketones showing at the last test, which is the first Jaymi has done at home.

Also Jaymi, did you ask the vet about ondansetron or some more cerenia? I think he still needs to be in some sort of antinausea medication. And I know you were using the last cerenia tablet.
Ondansetron is a better choice if you can get it. I think it is a priority that you get some more antinausea today.

I'll check the respiratory rate either on lunch or when home tonight. He did show a little interest in weruva wet food this morning, the Tuna and duck, he licked it a few times then cleaned himself up and didn't eat any more. I texted the vet for more Cerenia or Ondansetron.

I just remembered, last night Charlie woke me up because he was moving around, so I pulled him in for a cuddle and his heart rate was suuuuper fast. Faster than I could count beats.

I read your fb post where you said you have stopped insulin because you think he is ready to go OTJ.
Please be careful stopping insulin so quickly because of his recent history of DKA.
You will need to test ketones daily to make sure he does not start to have them form again.
And with his poor appetite and intake of food, that is not good for a post DKA kitty.
I hope you can get some ondansetron and more cerenia.

Please keep testing him to see what’s going on - even if he isn’t receiving insulin. You won’t know what is happening unless you test. Also, if his numbers did happen to go up then it could be dangerous with his DKA history. And yes, as Bron mentioned, please keep testing for ketones!

We stopped because she said to and his numbers have been so low, though I don't fully trust her.. I will get more testing strips. She did not give me more Cerenia or Ondansetron. Labs showed he has low RBC's, I declined a transfusion. Also denied the $400 test for ruling out Feline Hemoplasma. so we are doing prednisone 5mg BID, Doxy 1.1ml QDay, and pet tunic 1.2ml BID, an iron supplement. She wants to retest the RBC's Thursday.. That seems so soon? Considering we are starting the meds now, and an office visit plus that test will be $130. I don't know time frames on this stuff though, so I don't want to push it out if it really needs to be done that soon, I just have a hard time trusting her.

Charlie was laying/relaxing outside, only occasionally distracted by a bird or a leaf, and I counted 17 the first 30 seconds attempt and 16 in 30 seconds the next time. I'll count again when he's sleeping. We relaxed and explored outside for 90ish mins after coming home from the vet (and before eating), and he was at 90bg. He's been averaging 80s every time.
