Changing insulin: Insuvet Lente to Caninsulin (UK)

Hi there, my 10 year old cat, Basil was diagnosed in August. He started on 1u BID and is now up to 2u BID. His pre-shot levels average at about 13-15, and his nadirs are around 8-11 at 4-6 hours post-shot.

The vet called me to say that there is a production problem with the insulin he is currently on (insuvet lente) and that we will have to switch to caninusulin. I have been reading all I can about caninsulin, and it doesn't look like it's the best insulin to go with? I'm not sure if the vet will offer an alternative, but does anyone in the UK use anything else?
