Just had discussion with Tiger's vet this afternoon. We are up to 3 units, twice daily, on the Vetsulin plus a diabetic diet and I've never gotten him below 200 since the day he was diagnosed.

Ordered the Pro Zinc - ouch - but it's not the most pricey.

Anyone made this switch? Just wondering if there’s anything I need be on lookout for? Vet recommendation is to start him out on 1 unit of the Pro Zinc and see where we go from there.

IF there is any good news - since his diagnosis he is no longer lethargic (except today - BG was 637 - I flipping croaked three times :nailbiting::eek::confused: ); he is re-gaining weight
(he's a BIG cat - formerly weighed around the 16-18 lb mark. Weighed a little under 10 #s the day he was diagnosed - don't get me started it's a long story about him getting adopted out).

Vet said we may never get him within a normal range however as long as he maintains his quality of life - which for Tiger has always been leave me alone I'm sleeping - continues to regain his weight and we get some muscle built back up in rear legs that we might have to leave it at that.

My cat was in vetsulin for a long time. Switched her to ProZinc last year. Cheapest price is on chewy.com.

Getting off the dm food to ff classic might help. And skip the dry food completely.

My cat just made the switch from Vetsulin to ProZinc a couple weeks ago. Her numbers were literally going up every day instead of down and a couple awesome members over on the ProZinc forum helped me figure out dosing - the improvement was immediate from the first day. Prior to that she was consistently in the 500-700s.

ProZinc members recommend starting close to the same dose amount, in my cat's case a few people suspected her dose was too high so we went from 4u Vetsulin to 2u ProZinc. Do you have a spreadsheet anyone could look at?
