Hi All
Kit Kat Is currently regulated on 0.5 unit of Lantus at 8 AM and 8 PM. My work schedule is changing Feb 20 for two weeks and I need to administer at 6 am and 6 pm . Any advise on best way to change time with minimal impact. She is doing well and hate to throw her off!

Thanks in advance
Cindy

You can
a) walk each cycle back by shooting 15 minutes early each cycle for a total of 30 minutes per day.
e.g.
Day 1
AMPS 7:45
PMPS 7:30
Day 2
AMPS 7:15 ...
OR
b) shooting 30 minutes early 1 of the cycles.
e.g.
Day 1
AMPS 7:30
PMPS 7:30
Day 2
AMPS 7:00
PMPS 7:00 ...
Marking it all down on a calendar helps.

I have done both, walked each cycle back 15 minutes one time, and 30 minutes another depending how soon I needed to change time.
I would probably go with 15 minutes earlier for each cycle since you have a couple of weeks to make the change. Kit Kat probably won't even know the difference:cat:

Thanks so much!!!

I always preferred 30 mins once a day. That way you don’t have to shoot a different time every cycle. If you shot 15 mins early already today, you can do the same tomorrow and then just shoot 30 mins early once a day until you catch up.

Thanks Everyone! Kit Kat doing well with the daily shift!
She is having blood work tomorrow! Praying her kidney function and anemia are greatly improved.
Dr wants her to take Gabapentin prior. Kit Kat was rightfully aggressive last visit
I have read many positive stories as well as a few unfortunate gabapentin experiences

Glad the shift is working. Paws crossed for improvement on the blood work. We've been watching Tango's kidney values for a couple of years. Just had them checked. His numbers have been fairly consistent. They ae over normal range, but stay close. Mostly watch Creatinine, BUN, BUN/Creatinine ratio and phosphorus. Phososphorus has stayed within range. Happy for that. Others seem to go up one time, then down next. No big spikes.

We've only given gabapentin to Tango after dental work. Didn't seem to bother him.

I hope Kit Kat continues to do well:cat:

Hi Lori
That is great to hear! I have read many success stories with CKD cats living many years after diagnosis!

I gave Kit Kat 25 mg of the gabapentin 2.5 hours before visit. Vet tech was able to draw blood with no issues!
Her weight went up! She is at 8.3 pounds now lowest was 6.4 a couple months ago

Good news is Her phosphorous went down and is now normal - using AlOH and feeding Weruva Wx, Hematocrit increased with no anemia meds just chicken hearts
Unfortunately her Creatinine went up and BUN rose significantly. Regarding BUN I read on Tanya CKD site that if ups cat is on a high protein diet BUN can be 20x the Creatnine level. Her urine output also increased recently but she ha been eating more. A tiny dehydrated.

Of course it’s one thing after another. She developed Diarrhea the night we got home from the vet and has thrown up two humongous hairballs one yesterday and one today so hoping that is culprit for the diarrhea. Restarted the proviable probiotics and starting SubQ fluids

With exception to Bun, nice to see some improvement on blood work. If you don't know, you can add blood work to Kit Kat's SS. There's a tab for labs. Though, it takes some time to enter all the info, I really like it because you can do quick comparisons to previous results. If something isn't on the tab you can add it. Take a look at Tango's. Did not know that abot high protein diet and how it affects BUN. Good to know.

Glad the gabepentin helped. Sometimes I think kitty parents also need to take something before vet appts:) I hope the diarrhea and vomit were just the one time.

A pawsitive on the weight gain. Tango was 17lbs before diagnoses. He lost 3lbs pretty fast and has maintained same weight since. He's a big kitty.

Good luck with the SubQ fluids and probiotics:cat:

Please start a new condo. One condo per cat per day. And please use the correct subject title. You can find more info in the Info post at the top of this forum on how to post. Thank you very much. We really appreciate it. :D
