That depends on the weight of your cat. I see you have a spreadsheet but nothing on it. Is this for a diabetic or a civvie? You can get dosing guidelines at any Veterinary RX site.

generally it’s 1-2 mg per kg but you should check with your vet.

That's just the thing, our vet wants us to give our cat 16mg but when i look online it should be 8mg, our cat weights 16 pounds. in the past it was always 8mg

That is a old spread sheet, our beloved Perkins passed away in 2017, this is for our cat Binky who they say could be pre diabetic

Sorry. If I were you I would start with 2mg per kg. and see if it helps. You can go up or down from there. Does he have pancreatitis? I know the pill isn’t as effective but Max weighed about the same and I gave 8mg.

The vets haven't given us any real answers even after we have spent 1,000 dollars. He has elevated amylase enzyme of 1400 and high white blood sell count of 40 thousand, low platelets and high red blood cells.

Did your vet run a Spec fPL for pancreatitis? The high white count might be infection of inflammation. How old is he? You say pre diabetic. I’m not sure what that is. Did he run a fructosamine? As you know cars often are stressed at the vet and are higher than at home. Have you tested at home?

He is 11, the first vet said his sugar being 174 was stress but the second vet said pre diabetic and that may be causing the elevated amylase enzyme of 1400 . This place can be a real nightmare because you can't always see the same vet and every vet has their own opinion. Right now they don't even let you come in the building due to the virus, so we have to wait in the hot car and we don't have AC. They did't run the fructosamine test and didn't even mention it, from what i remember with our beloved Perkins that test in around 200 dollars and we can't afford that.

What I would do is start testing 2-3 hours after eating. That will help you see if the pancreas is working. I know it’s a pain but cheaper than further testing. Other than poor appetite (or is it nausea?) what other symptoms are you seeing? Are you feeding a low carb diet? Kidney values good?

it stared in April he was throwing up and not eating, the vet gave him anti nausea and appetite pills fluids ect. He said he didn't know what caused it. Then his amylase enzyme was 1200 and WBC 31 thousand. He didn't tell us the amylase enzyme was 1200. On tuesday around 1am he started throwing up agian, another vet at the place told us about the amylase enzyme what is was now and then. Today he not eating much and seems uncomfortable.
