Well I have discussed switching to Lev with the vet; he is ok with it but doesn't think it will make much difference. I was not able to give my shift away today, but plan to work from home on Monday to do a curve on him. I also took Wendy's advise and tested him over night (just once though), here are yesterday's results:

5/17/13
amps 179 (6am) then fed breakfast
pmps 116 (6pm) then fed dinner (3oz of Weruva cats in the kitchen)
+2 107 (8pm; fed snack of about 1 1/2 tablespoons of Friskies at 8:45pm)
+4 65 (10 pm)
+7 76 (1am)

I think he kept going up gradually as the lantus wore off - it wears off earlier than 12 hours - as he was 147 this morning. I will test him again at either +2 or +3 before I go to work.

If he stays in this pattern the doc might want to keep him on Lantus. A decision needs to be made soon, as my pen is running out...

Jesse,

This pattern of peaking early in the 12 hour cycle and not lasting 12 hours on Lantus is why I suggested Levemir. It start a little later, peaks later and may last him a full 12 hours. Maybe his roller coaster would go away.

Levemir also is a little more stable and will last 42 days minimum.

All the best,

Claudia

Yep, he's been bouncing from Friday and needs a change. We were high200s last night and again this am for curve day.
