? CBD oil and Felines.

Hello everybody.
It has been quite a while since I stopped in.
I was hoping the community could give me some insight on CBD oil.

I have been doing a bit of research on the web. However finding actual studies is a slim.
PetMD is a bit cautious about it. Though they agree it is generally safe.
It seems to be the opinion that CBD oil can enhance the health of ones 4 footed friends.
I take everything I read on the web with a grain of salt.

Does anybody here have any personal experince with adding the oil to their kittys diet?
Or links to studies that have reliable information?
I was considering adding it to Dr. Peirsons raw recipe that I use.

I use it with Bronx. Since he is on so many different supplements, it is hard to say how much of an effect it has on him. My vet said she can not legally recommend it, but I could read between the lines of what she was saying and silently approved ;)
 
I started using it for Spot because pancreatitis caused him to not want to eat. It worked very well to stimulate his appetite. Also it helps with the pain and allows him to rest better. I give it to him every day even when he’s not having a pancreatitis episode because I feel it helps him feel better in general.

There is a Facebook group called ‘CBD oil for pets’ that has some good info. I highly recommend you join and take a look around if you’re looking for some more stories and info.

I have been adding Turmeric to Doctor Peirsons recipe for a while. Curcumin 95 actually. Supposedly less impact on the tastebuds for cats.

Have they said how it works on aggression?
Silky is almost 16lbs battle cat. He and Shadow that are in my avatar picture adopted us about 6 years ago. :)
Usually he sticks around the property and only gets into fights with strays if they breech there perimeter.
Recenly he has been going down to the end of the street to confront a new black and white stray. I have already have taken him in to the vets once. The day before yesterday he sustain another minor injury.
The loc8tor cat tracker I have on him took some major bites. So it probably protected him.
Not sure if it is just the time of the year.
However I was hoping the CBD oil would midigate his desire to get into more fights. While at the same time not sedating him. Cats lay around enough as it is. :)
 
I just ordered some from Innovetpet.com. They have 30% off for black Friday and free shipping. I'll give it a try with my civie who gets bad allergies to the point he can't smell and won't eat. CBD oils seem to help with just about everything, it's worth a try.

I have to had many use it for aggression but it sounds like the CBD oil may be a better choice he may need something stronger then can maintain with canna pet?? I will start asking about it tho

Well I received my order of CBD oil yesterday and started off with one drop in my civies food last night. He ate more than normal last night and ate more than normal this morning so it definitely helps with appetite. He seems a little subdued, he's a very calm cat to begin with so the oil might have made him even more calm. He currently has a stopped up nose due to allergies so I'm hoping it'll help with the inflammation. The dosing for this particular CBD oil is one drop per every 6 lbs per every 6-8 hours. You either put the drops directly in their mouth or in their food. They say it starts acting almost immediately when administered by mouth and can take about 45 minutes if administered by food. I'll get a closer look at him after work today, this morning was just a rush to get ready and out the door as usual. Been giving it to Silky.
He stayed out for 24 hours the other day and lost his colloar with the tracker on it. So he has had his outdoor privlages revoked. :)
I tracked the collar down.
I have only been giving about 2 drops with food. Have not noticed any behavioral changes as of yet.
He is about 16lbs so I prob have to up the dosage.
Ering on the side of caution.
 
Beni seems to trip out when I give him two drops in his meals twice a day. I know there's very little to no THC in hemp oil but it affects him somehow. He'll sit there just staring into space and every little movement or sound startles him. Once the CBD oil wears off he's fine, maybe better than before, almost like it does him good but while actively on it he doesn't seem ok. I'm still on the fence on this with him...
 
How much CBD is in one drop? Since every bottle contains a different total amount of CBD its really hard to know how much you are really giving if you are speaking in drops rather than mgs. Spot gets 5mg per day, but we did have to work up to that, starting about about 1mg. If you jump too fast, it can definitely result in a very chill kitty even without THC ;)
 
Beware of the Diamond brand CBD - they were caught adding some unnecessary stuff to their product not too long ago.
Make some online research before you buy.

I'm using Innovet @ 125 mg concentration. Their dosing for a 10lb cat/dog says 2 drops every 6-8 hours which is the minimum dose. One drop using the dropper supplied is .09 mg of CBD per drop. He could just be more sensitive to CBD, all pets are different.

I received the same warning.
From what I was told the product is actually artificial and can cause various reactions.
