Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any tips on how to help my kitty's ears heal from all the pricking when I test multiple times per day? They're all bumpy and scarred :(

Thanks,
Carolyn

Are you using a lancing device or free hand?

I ask because I noticed on my own girl that the varying pressure options from my lancing device seem to leave more
noticeable marks when I have it set on the higher settings.

I have been taking the neosporin ointment ( not cream) and putting it on before every prick and afterwards too
and then a few extra times when I'm not testing. It seems to be helping the healing process to apply it a little more often.
On my cat, it seems to be soaking in quick. I know she's not rubbing it off because I've been watching her.

Since you asked this question, I'll add a question for the others.
Has anyone tried any products like orajel numbzit? Would that work to help numb the ear a little?

There are two things that help a great deal with this! Make sure you're applying pressure to the poke spot (i do it with the same tissue I use to back his ear for the poke) for 20 seconds after each poke. Also, rub a tiny bit of Neosporin + Pain Relief ointment (not the cream ) on the spot after you've put pressure on it.
