Catnip sprinkled on food...?

Anyone ever hear of this method for getting cats to eat?

One of my civies who used to gobble down EVERYTHING, now barely eats. I shoved a crunchy treat or two in his wet pate yesterday and he ate most of the 1/2 can I left out.

I have yet to try Bonito flakes...but the vet tech yesterday said to maybe try catnip sprinkled on top?

I've done it. Some of my cats love to eat catnip so it works well for them. You can also try freeze dried chicken crumbled over the food or even parmesian cheese I hear works.

Warming the food would be the first thing I'd try. If it smells more they may take more interest.

I warm it up, I've tried Parmesan... I guess I'm going to have to resort to stinkier stuff.

He was neutered the other day..and wasn't eating much before then..and he's lost a pound since we weighed him a week and a half ago. NOT good.

Try the catnip. Think of it as "seasoning".

I would try it. Most of my cats like to eat the catnip rather than roll in it anyway. :lol:
