Tiki EATS the catnip I give him - does it have any negative effects on his numbers? It's rare that I give it to him, but I thought if it works as a good Bribe/Treat, I could start giving it to him more frequently.

There is no problem at all with eating it. I always have a fresh cat grass plant for my cats to eat.
My Shadoe goes to the grass every morning for a nibble before shots and breakfast; it's good for them.

Nope not going to effect his bloodsugar at all, and no negative effects unless he is like one of my civies and goes beserk for about 20 minutes before passing out to take a long nap.. But hey, even if he does go a little nuts on it, at least he is getting added exercise and that is good for his diabetes. :-D

Just wanted to add a suggestion to be sure not to give TOO much catnip. One of my civies actually became allergic to catnip after being given it too much. I was out of town for an extended period and Kaleigh is very shy, so I suggested to the person I had watching her to bribe her with catnip since she loves it so much. Well, when I got back, Kaleigh's lower lip was swollen enough to rival Angelina Jolie's. The next time that I tried giving her catnip, the same thing happened. Both times the vet had to give a steroid shot. I have no idea just how much catnip she was being given, but it was obviously enough to make her sensitive to it, so she's banned from catnip now

Harley's numbers go up slightly with catnip. I don't give it often..he is like a mean drunk, a little "nip" and he is beating up his brother. It is funny to watch.
