I haven't used this board since I lost Pixie. About a year ago, my son volunteered for a kitten rescue organization and we are now the proud parents of 4 little (well, not so little anymore) fur babies.
Well, Oliver (DOB 10/10/13) couldn't pee the other day (Tuesday) so I took him to the vets and he had to be catheterized. He came home on Thursday evening (put on Prazosin and Alprazolam) and seemed to be doing ok. I noticed his pee amounts were small, but he was still producing until this am.
He is not crying out in pain, just when he tried to pee only a couple drops came out.
I have to call an emergency vet at 9am. I am assuming that he will have to go in again because he is probably blocked.
Before this he ate a mixture of wet and dry. Now I have him on just wet. He's not real thrilled about it, but he'll adjust.
Any advice is appreciated.
I am currently feeding the friskies pate mixed with proplan focus urinary tract food.
Do these cats need a specific urinary food ? Or is just the canned (added water) enough to get them to stop having blockages? Of course the vet wanted him on prescription food right away, however he wouldn't even touch it at the vets.
Feeling very frustrated right now.
