Hello all!
My boys all love the freeze dried salmon/shrimp/liver treats, but they are expensive! $3 for less than 1oz! does anyone make there own treats? or have thoughts for other healthy treats? I make my own food so I would be willing to do treats too... thanks!

The easiest way is to give your cat some of the chicken or turkey that you buy from the supermarket for youself. You can feed the meat raw or cook it (separately from your own cooking) with no additional ingredients or spice, etc (like steamed, boiled, baked). Cooked meat can be frozen for later use. If you boil the meat, you can save the cooking water becuse it will be kind of like meat juice  You can use 2 ounce cups with lids to freeze pieces of cut up cooked meat with some of the cooking liquid and freeze them.

I buy steak when it's on sale, and cook it and slice it thin. Then I put some slices in baggies and freeze them.
I also buy the large cooked and frozen shrimp in the big bags (it's like $20 (or $15 on sale) for 2.5 pounds) and take out a few to defrost at a time, when I want to give a special treat.
Those are a lot cheaper than the freeze dried treats, but I also give the freeze dried treats, too.
Foster and Smith has some good prices Liver Snax 21oz for $38.99, that's $1.81 per ounce! They come in Chicken, Beef, or Lamb and are 100% meat, and they give free shipping on an order of $49 or more. My cats prefer the Chicken.

Also if you have a dehydrator you can make your own chicken jerky for cats, just throw raw strips of chicken in, dehydrate to where they are sligtly chewy, and store in a plastic bag in the freezer for later use. I also make kitty kisses this way, I put a can of low carb canned food, a little catnip and about a tbsp. or to of water in the blender, then put spoonfuls of it in little droplets on the plastic fruit roll-up dehydrator sheets and dehydrate until very dry, then store in an air-tight plastic container in the frig. These make nice nonmessy travel treats for like vet trips, or other car trips.
