1.a If I put food in front of my cat, will he eat even if he isn't actually hungry?
1.b Does that mean, if he does eat when I put something in front of him that he is actually hungry?
1.c If he finishes his wet food, and it's a healthy food -- should I need to give him more? What if he's hungry but he isn't telling me?

2. If I withhold the dry food and only give it to him two times a day, will it (psychologically) become a more "valued" food, and he will stop eating the other wet food (which he doesn't like anyways)?

3. What about non-chalantly keeping down the dry food, while feeding him yummy grilled chicken and his favorite wet food four times a day? Hoping that maybe he will eat the yummy wet food and chicken, and then only eat the dry kibble if he is hungry while we are at work....?

((He is more likely to nibble on dry food when he "feels" hungry than wet food))

You did a nice job guiding Mister Mistopheles through low numbers today! Good to see he didn't drop too low.

I think the answers to most, if not all of your questions above, can be answered the same: "It depends on the cat"... which unfortunately, isn't of much help to you!

Have you had a chance to read through and really think about Dr. Lisa Pierson's piece on "Transitioning Feline Dry Food Addicts to Canned Food"? Dr. Lisa's article is good and many have found it to be helpful. I know I did when it took what seemed like the longest four months of my life to transition one of my non-diabetic kitties from dry to wet food. :woot:

Have you ever tried feeding raw food? My die-hard kibble addict took to raw food like a duck to water after 4 months of trying to get him off kibble. I wish someone had suggested it to me sooner! LOL!

Good luck. Maybe you'll get some ideas from the article...
