Cat Just diagnosed today

Hello,

My beautiful cat Clyde went into the vet today for surgery and came out without getting the surgery because his blood sugar level was 463. Needless to say, I am very sad. I need to buy insulin but it is so expensive that I can't afford to pay $300 for 3 months (or less) worth. I saw in one of your posts that you ordered from a Canada Pharmacy Marks Marine. My vet prescribed Clyde with Lantus Glangine U100. I live in Indiana. Does this pharmacy indeed ship to US? I just want my buddy to get better but $300 for 3 months is alot of money.
Thanks so much,

Yes! They will ship to the US!!! :). If you order the 5 pen set it will probably last you a year.

I wanted to assure you that while it's a lot to learn in the beginning, and definitely overwhelming, it gets easier and will soon all be routine. It is not a death sentence and they can live long healthy lives with it. My cat was diagnosed with it 4.5 years ago!

One of the main things you can do is get him on low carb wet food. Many people here feed fancy feast classic or Friskies pate foods. Avoid gravy and dry food. :). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Also if you want to get the lantus at the pharmacy there are often discount codes /perscription codes to save money. A vial lasts at least 4-5 months of kept in the fridge.

Thank you so much! I will order it then. Do I just call them to order?
Call them and they can contact your vet for the perscription, or have your vet give you the prescription and your can send it to them. You've got this!! I have a video in my signature showing how I test my cat CC at home once you are ready to start that. :)

I can't thank you enough! It feels very overwhelming right now but I know you all can help me. I know I will be posting more in the future with questions and support. And hopefully I can help others in the coming years.

Just want to say welcome, and that this group is amazing - I wish I had found it when my boy was first diagnosed. Hopefully Clyde can feel well soon and get his surgery! :bighug:

Welcome!! I'm sorry about your diagnosis but you have come to the right place. As people have already said, everyone here is so helpful and the advice in this forum is THE BEST. We are still trying to figure out what's going on with my boy but I KNOW that the advice I have been given here has made my life so much easier AND has helped my boy so much. Good luck with your journey, you are not alone :)
