Anyone has a trick to make food more palatable for a cat? Nothing high in phosphor nor carbs of course! And hypoallergenic would be just great!

My cat loves PurinaDm cans and now that i've bought the most "organic/pure chicken/super good for the health/low carb/perfect texture" food for her, she wont eat it! She did, a little, yesterday evening, but somehow decided finally she preferred PurinaDm.
She was soooo annoying the whole morning, she just wanted her old food so bad. I had to add a tea spoon of PurinaDm to her food and she ate the whole bowl!

My vet and I are in the process of finding out if she's allergic to food, so anything that would make her food more palatable without risking to aggravate her allergies would be great: the taste of PurinaDm without any PurinaDm ingredients, is that possible?

Well as far as hypo-allergenic you want a food with a single source of protein/carbohydrates - prefereably a unique protein source. Natural Balance and Royal Canin both make duck/green pea and venison/green pea food that would be used as a food elimination diet. Before IVD was bought by royal canin they had stopped making a rabbit/green pea food that they may have started again. Try mixing in the NB food with DM then gradually lower DM amount/increase NB amount. Once they go to all new food feed only that for 6 weeks and see if symptoms clear up. You can also use an antihistabmine to get symptoms cleared up then see if the new food is working. Jan

My vet doesn't want to give Antihistaminic medication to my cat yet. Mainly because he's not 100% sure she has allergies, and he wants to treat the skin problem (shampoo and gel) and switch food to eliminate any problem that can "easily" be avoided.
So on my side, the only thing I wanted to try as soon as possible, was to eliminate PurinaDm! She has not been eating much this evening : I will probably have to add more PurinaDm to her food... again! She has such a complicated apetite!
The new food was only made of chicken, but unfortunately I cant afford any other UNIQUE-protein low carb food (too pricey here in Switzerland). I found another brand that looks good, but it has 2 protein sources. PurinaDm is basically made of fish and fish by product+rice. The one I just ordered (3 cans to test my cat first!) has no fish or rice. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the suggestion about Royal Canin, but with everything I've been through for the last 3 years (trying to cure each and every disease my cat had with Royal canin special foods), I am definitely boycotting that brand
