Cat Dental On Monday

My diabetic cat will have a dental cleaning on Monday. The vet said that she should get half of her normal insulin intake which would be 1 unit. Not sure how insulin and anesthesia mix. The last time she had a dental the vet said no insulin at all.

Does anyone have any opinions or experience on giving her or not giving her the insulin on the day of her dental?

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it. I asked my vet again about the insulin and he seems to think 1/2 the normal dose will be safe. I'm just afraid that my cat will wake up with a blood glucose in the 300's and come home with something in the 400 or 500's.......I don't know how quickly ketones develop but they scare me. My Pancakes already had a scary episode with them two years ago. But, like Hope said I would rather she go high than low.

Thanks again

Not sure what others have seen, but my cat was given Humulin R after the anaesthetic at the clinic and dropped quite low when he got home. It might be worth asking specifically when picking up your kitty if R was administered, and at what time. Then you can be prepared to test for the usual duration of its action. And I gave no insulin the morning of the dental.
