So sorry Sweet Pea has been ill but you have come to the best place for help
The main things you are going to have to do is to ensure that SP is getting enough insulin, enough food and enough fluids and is being treated for the infection/inflammation she had.
The recipe for DKA is not enough insulin, not enough food and an infection/inflammation. So they are the things you have to address.
So make sure you have plenty of food she will eat at home including some higher carb food in case you need it. It is really important she eats so ask the vet for some cerenia and ondansetron tablets for nausea in case she won't eat. Don't let him fob you off... insist on them. Cats recovering from pancreatitis and /or DKA often have little appetite and are still nauseated.
You may need to give some subQ fluids if she is not drinking enough but we can help you with that if it's needed.
And it is really important she gets enough insulin to stop the ketones coming back.
You will need to be testing for ketones in the urine every day, so if you don't already have any Ketostix test strips at home, go out and buy a bottle of them from the pharmacy today so you have them on hand to test daily once she comes home. Yes the ones used for humans are the ones to buy. It is a simple urine test and is just a matter of collecting a sample from SP and testing it as per the instructions on the bottle. Anything above a trace warrants a vet attention..
If you haven't set up your signature yet, please do it as we all look at that when we help you. To do it, go to the top right of your screen and press on your user name and select signature. Then write down date of diagnosis, what meter you are using, type of food, any other health issues, the DKA, age of SP. Then save.
Make sure you have plenty of test strips to test the blood sugars because you will be testing them more than you have been, while she is recovering. People will guide you so don't worry.
Also you need to set up a spread sheet so we can help you with the dosing, which is so important after DKA. Here is the link,if you have trouble we will help you set it up.
